I would say this place is just about the most quaint, happy-go-lucky atmosphere a person could ever walk into on a bright Saturday morning.
The whole place practically screams delectable goodness out the front door…and as you walk in, the air that surrounds you is filled with desirable aromas from freshly made quiche to chocolate and coconut cakes… and don’t even get me started on the donuts.
For starters, let me give credit where it is deserved. I heard about this place originally from my host mom when I first arrived in New Zealand. She claimed it to be the best bakery in the North Island. I was then reminded of its fame and glory by my host dad a few weeks later when he brought home one of their infamous cream and jelly filled donuts topped with a grand amount of powdered sugar for looks as well as taste appeal. I had one small nibble on this and I knew this would be a bakery I should stay away from if I wanted to keep anything even close to a small figure…
Unfortunately, my taste bud memory got the best of me and I chose this past Saturday morning as the perfect day to make Little & Friday an in-person visit myself.
The picture seen above is the first glimpse of goodness one receives as they enter the bakery. I, as well as the other two friends I brought along for the journey, were far beyond excited when we laid eyes on these beauties. Every small dessert hand crafted to perfection and made fresh daily. We couldn’t help but want to try every single one.
I also chose to indulge on the quiche picture in the middle. It was by far one of the most delicious quiches my palette ever did taste. The perfect blend of sweet and savory, with the caramelized oinions on top as an added bonus. Always lovely when places have vegetarian options within their quiche selection.
Little & Friday also offers free water fermented in cinnamon and mint leaves to give it an extra special flare only making you happy to stay hydrated. Perhaps something I could try at home, because it definitely makes drinking water a tasty treat!
(Also just love when a cafe, bakery, or restaurant adds its own garnishes to the plate even when the quiche is quite easily pulled from the front counter and heated 🙂 )
This cake is the bigger version of the delicious bit I ended up ordering. A chocolate cake filled with the utmost delightful amount of raspberry and custard cream. Moist within and without, and drizzled with decadent chocolate nests and fresh raspberries.
To put it simply, Little & Friday took my breath away this past Saturday morning and will continue to be my best friend, as well as my worst enemy for the remainder of my stay in New Zealand.
I encourage all foodie’s, sweet-tooths, and basically everyone else in the world to travel to this little wonder and indulge in its magic yourself.

YUM 🙂
